Discover the world on your terms

“It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.”
Let’s demand that the world be accessible to everyone. Inclusivity is possible.

A passion for travel

Ean: “For me there is nothing more amazing than arriving in a new country, leaving the plane for the first time and taking that first breath of air. I realize it is a little ironic coming from a man using a ventilator. But that first breath, especially when I arrive at a tropical destination, announces immediately I am not in Canada anymore: that is unbelievably exciting for me.

Experiencing that initial rush of hot air signals to me without a doubt I am at the beginning of an amazing adventure. Of course, I won’t have truly arrived until I’m in my wheelchair. The exhilarating first moment is only three quarters of having made it to my destination. I hope ICAN travel will be able to help you navigate all parts of your travels to minimize your work and maximize the enjoyment.”

Ean’s travels and how-tos

I am a global traveler with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (Type II). I’ve never walked and have used a power wheelchair since the age of three. At fifteen, I became ventilator dependent—but that hasn’t stopped me from exploring more than a dozen countries around the world.

From an early age, my adventurous parents taught me that having a physical disability shouldn’t mean missing out. We spent my childhood camping, canoeing, and exploring nature together, and that spirit of curiosity and resilience has stayed with me ever since.

I started Rollin’ with Ean to share my adventures and show others that exploring the world with a disability is not only possible—it can be incredibly fun and fulfilling. Although it may take extra planning and creativity, I welcome the challenge of pushing past barriers and trying new things.

Through Rollin’ with Ean, I hope to encourage others to step outside their comfort zones, embrace adventure, and keep rolling forward—no matter what.

🌟 Femme Fatale: Red Carpet Rewind – Kelowna Events Centre

Last night did not disappoint! Femme Fatale: Red Carpet Rewind at the Kelowna Events Centre showcased some incredibly talented women from all across the Okanagan.

The energy in the room was something else and I highly recommend checking out any of the Femme Fatale events if you get the chance. These are the kinds of shows that remind you just how much local talent is out there.

On the accessibility front the Kelowna Events Centre is a wonderful open space. I also heard there's an elevator to access the upper mezzanine which I'll definitely be checking out next time!

🎵 Fort Knox Five – AesthetiKsLAB, Kelowna

I missed out on catching Fort Knox Five at AesthetiKsLAB in Kelowna last week and I'm still a little bummed about it!

My good friend checked out the accessibility and I'm happy to report some good news! The event took place on the second floor and there is an elevator inside the venue. Staff and management were very welcoming and open to answering accessibility questions, and the washroom looks like it has decent open space as well.

AesthetiKsLAB is now firmly on my radar and I can't wait to catch a show there in the near future. If you're in the Kelowna area and haven't checked this place out yet, sounds like it's worth a visit!

🎧 Dion Timmer & Excision – Revelry, Kelowna
Tonight was a great!!! Dion Timmer performing with Excision at Revelry in Kelowna was exactly what I needed. The place was absolutely packed and the vibes were incredible.
Revelry remains my absolute favourite venue in Kelowna and nights like this remind me why. It's the perfect size for this type of event and I'm happy to say it's fully accessible. If you haven't checked it out yet, it's absolutely worth a visit!
A big shoutout to Wednesday Club who opened. First time seeing them and I'm already a huge fan. Keep an eye on these guys! 🙌
